I am Rorie Spencer, 18 years old, residing in Pennsylvania. I attend Virginia Commonwealth University as a first-year Psychology student. My interests include competitive track & field, writing, reading, as well as health & beauty. I plan to become a Doctor of Psychology with a concentration on adolescent development.
Why Star Anise Was Founded
When I was in grade school I went to a predominately white school where I was one of maybe seven black children. Growing up I also had severe eczema so I was always looking for ways to improve my skin. Between looking for ways to lighten my skin to fit in, and ways to rid of the eczema, I had completely diminished my self-confidence. After moving to a school with more diversity, I started to love and embrace my natural melanin. I’ve been fascinated with and researching natural skincare remedies since middle school and trying them on myself as well as family.
I started this company because I have a genuine passion for helping others to gain confidence through self-care.
